How to transcribe your MP4 files

1

Drop them in

Drag in your videos or a whole folder, or tap Choose videos. Big files are fine.

2

Watch it fill in

Every file is transcribed in parallel. Tap Read to follow one as it fills in; speakers and a summary follow.

3

Take it all

Download all gives a .zip with .txt, .md and .srt for every file, plus all of them in one Markdown file.

Bulk, in parallel

A folder of videos goes through at once, several minutes of speech every few seconds.

Clickable timestamps

Tap a time and your video jumps there, right on the page. The text follows along as it plays.

Speakers & summary

Interviews and calls get names, with a summary, key points and chapters for every file.

Your video stays put

Only the sound is sent, in short pieces, to be transcribed. Nothing is stored.

Questions

How do I transcribe an MP4 file?

Drop it on the box above, or tap Choose videos. The transcript fills in as it goes, usually several minutes of video every few seconds. Tap Read to see it, then Copy it or download .txt, .md or .srt.

Can I do lots of videos at once?

Yes. Drop as many as you like, or a whole folder. They're transcribed in parallel. Download all gives you a .zip with a text, Markdown and subtitle file for each video, plus All transcripts.md with every one in a single file, handy for an AI chat.

Which files work?

MP4, MOV and M4A of any size, including multi-hour recordings, as long as the sound is AAC or MP3 (almost all are). MP3, WAV, WebM and other formats your browser can play also work, up to about 700 MB each. If a file was cut short, for example a download that didn't finish, you get the part that's there and a note saying so.

Are my videos uploaded?

The video itself never leaves your device. Your browser pulls out just the sound, and short pieces of it go through our server to Cloudflare's speech-to-text model (Whisper), which doesn't keep them. For speakers and the summary, the text goes to Cloudflare's AI the same way. Nothing is saved. We keep anonymous counts, like how many files are transcribed, but never file names or contents, and no cookies.

How does it know who is speaking?

It doesn't hear voices; it reads the conversation. The AI first decides whether a file is one person talking or a conversation, then works out who says each part from what's said, using names when they're mentioned. It's usually right for interviews and calls, but it can slip on short replies like "Yeah". Tap a speaker's name to move that part to someone else or rename them; your changes go into your copy and downloads.

How accurate is it?

Very good on clear speech, in most languages (it detects the language for each file). Names, jargon and heavy crosstalk can be misheard, and music-only parts are skipped. The summary is a quick guide written from the transcript; check anything important against the video.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, on recent versions. Tap Choose videos to pick from your library or Files. On iPhone, Save to Files saves the .zip. Keep the page open while it works.

Is it free?

Yes. Free, with no sign-up. To keep it that way there's a fair-use limit of 15 hours of audio per person per day.
